Occult/New Age Markings on the John Darby Version

John Nelson Darby published his own version of the New Testament in 1867. He "decided to produce a highly literal English version of the New Testament for study purposes." (1) Below is a representative sampling of the occult wording, New Age markings and satanic subliminals Darby inserted into his own translation, which he represented as being more literal (i.e. more accurate) and worthy of study than the King James Bible.

For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.	2 John 1:7	For many deceivers have gone out into the world, they who do not confess Jesus Christ coming in flesh--this is the deceiver and the antichrist. Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.	Revelation 11:17	saying, We give thee thanks, Lord God Almighty, He who is, and who was, that thou hast taken thy great power and hast reigned. [John Darby removed, "art to come." This verse removes the promise that Lord God Almighty (the Lord Jesus Christ) will come again.]
And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.	1 John 4:3	and every spirit which does not confess Jesus Christ come in flesh is not of God: and this is that power of the antichrist, of which ye have heard that it comes, and now it is already in the world. [Darby omitted the word, "is" which indicates present tense.]

"wonderful works," "mighty works," etc.		"works of power"
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?	Matt. 7:22	Many shall say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied through thy name, and through thy name cast out demons, and through thy name done many works of power?
Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:	Matt. 11:20	Then began he to reproach the cities in which most of his works of power had taken place, because they had not repented. ["Works of power" is a term mainly used by occultists! To my knowledge "works of power" appears only in the Darby Version and the Bible in Basic English. Darby marked his version 15 times with this phrase.]

"followers"

"imitators"

For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews:

Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.

And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?

1 Thess. 2:14

For *ye*, brethren, have become imitators of the assemblies of God which are in Judaea in Christ Jesus; for *ye* also have suffered the same things of your own countrymen as also *they* of the Jews,

I entreat you therefore, be my imitators. [False apostles imitate genuine apostles.]

And who shall injure you if ye have become imitators of that which [is] good?

[Infiltrators imitate (mimic or counterfeit) the real thing. Genuine Christian brethren become followers of the real thing.

"the living and true God"

"a living and true God."

For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God

1 Thess. 1:9

for they themselves relate concerning us what entering in we had to you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve a living and true God

John Darby's translation states that Jesus was an only-begotten with a father!]

For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

1 Tim. 4:10

for, for this we labour and suffer reproach, because we hope in a living God, who is preserver of all men, specially of those that believe.

And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

2 Cor. 6:16

and what agreement of God's temple with idols? for *ye* are [the] living God's temple;

Darby's use of brackets around the word "the" indicates that the critical Greek manuscripts did not include this word.

Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

Heb. 3:12

See, brethren, lest there be in any one of you a wicked heart of unbelief, in turning away from [the] living God.

"servant"

"bondman" (slave)

A servant is one who serves voluntarily or under compulsion.

God's people choose to serve God. They make moment-by-moment choices to either yield to or quench the Holy Spirit. Unlike Satan, God does not bring his children into bondage.

A bondman is a slave -- a person who serves under compulsion.

A bondman (slave) is held in bondage to another and is wholly subject to the will of another. A slave is held as chattel and has no freedom of action.

Satan's followers regard Christians as slaves of Jesus Christ. They consider Christianity as the worst form of slavery and think of God as a cruel, merciless master because he does not permit his followers the "freedom" to sin. Thus, they use the word, slave to describe their perception of a Christian's relationship to the God of the Bible. John Darby marked 69 New Testament verses with the word, "bondman" (slave).

Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God

Romans 1:1

Paul, bondman of Jesus Christ, [a] called apostle, separated to God's glad tidings

The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.

Matthew 10:24

The disciple is not above his teacher, nor the bondman above his lord.

And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,

2 Tim. 2:24

And a bondman of [the] Lord ought not to contend, but be gentle towards all; apt to teach; forbearing;

The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:

Revelation 1:1

Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave to him, to shew to his bondmen what must shortly take place; and he signified it, sending by his angel, to his bondman John,

[Note: John Darby removed "the" from Revelation of Jesus Christ. His removal of the definite article, "the" serves to remove the singular quality of this revelation. This set the stage for him to add his own "revelation", which he did.]

And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.

Revelation 15:3

And they sing the song of Moses bondman of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and wonderful are thy works, Lord God Almighty; righteous and true are thy ways, O King of nations.

[Important: John Darby changed king of saints to king of nations.]

"ye do shew the Lord's death"

"announce the death..."

For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.

1 Cor. 11:26

1 Corinthians 11:26 For as often as ye shall eat this bread, and drink the cup, ye announce the death of the Lord, until he come.

[Satan's followers wish Jesus Christ was dead and blaspheme him by continaully "announcing" his death by conducting daily masses all over the world.]

"this is my body, which is broken for you"

"which is for you"

And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

1 Corinthians 11:24

1 Corinthians 11:24 and having given thanks broke it, and said, This is my body, which is for you: this do in remembrance of me.

"Christ"

"The Christ"

The title, "The Christ" was used 19 Times in KJV

Darby Version: Title of New Age World Teacher Replaces Christ

KJV: "The mighty One"

Darby: "The Mighty One"

The KJV renders the title, the "mighty one" with no capitals and once with the capitalization of the word, "One."

The Darby Version contains the title, "the Mighty One" in one instance with no capitals and the rest with Luciferically-correct capitalizations.

I have therefore delivered him into the hand of the mighty one of the heathen; he shall surely deal with him: I have driven him out for his wickedness.

Ezekiel 31:11

I have given him into the hand of the mighty one of the nations; he shall surely deal with him: I have driven him out for his wickedness.

Therefore saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies:

Isaiah 1:24

Isaiah 1:24 Therefore saith the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, the Mighty One of Israel: Ah! I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies.

Isaiah 49:26

Even in verses where the KJV does not include the phrase, "the mighty One" Darby added it--complete with Luciferically-correct capitalizations.

But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:)

Genesis 49:24

But his bow abideth firm, And the arms of his hands are supple By the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob. From thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:

How he sware unto the LORD, and vowed unto the mighty God of Jacob;

Psalms 132:2

How he swore unto Jehovah, vowed unto the Mighty One of Jacob:

Until I find out a place for the LORD, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.

Psalms 132:5

Until I find out a place for Jehovah, habitations for the Mighty One of Jacob. ...

For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.

Luke 1:49

For the Mighty One has done to me great things, and holy is his name;

"Teacher"

The KJV refers to Jesus Christ as a teacher once:

John 3:2: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.

John Darby's Version referrs to Jesus Christ as teacher 46 times!

Note: New Agers refer to their Christ as the World Teacher.

And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.

Matthew 8:19

And a scribe came up and said to him, Teacher, I will follow thee whithersoever thou mayest go.

And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners?

Matthew 9:11

And the Pharisees seeing it, said to his disciples, Why does your teacher eat with tax-gatherers and sinners?

The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.

Matthew 10:24

The disciple is not above his teacher, nor the bondman above his lord.

It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?

Matthew 10:25

[It is] sufficient for the disciple that he should become as his teacher, and the bondman as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more those of his household?

"world"

Satan's agents do not believe in hell or damnation as the bible teaches. While going through the motions of assenting to these doctrines, they remove the words, hell and damnation from the Bible in various ways-- either directly or via footnotes.

"accursed from Christ"

Romans 9:3 For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:

[Darby had his version say Paul wished to be be "a curse from the Christ" rather than "accursed from Christ." This rearrangement of the verse is a satanic marking.]

"mystery of Christ"

Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)

Ephesians 3:4

by which, in reading it, ye can understand my intelligence in the mystery of the Christ,)

[The "mystery of the Christ" is an occult term:

"The mystery of the Christ is therefore that of the divine power descending into matter, for the purpose of operating in the lower kingdoms of nature."

[According to the Darby Version, Jesus Christ was a sinner who needed purification! This alteration fits the change he made regarding Jesus' parentage. See below.]

1 Timothy 6:15

John 16:11

which in its own time the blessed and only Ruler shall shew, the King of those that reign, and Lord of those that exercise lordship;

[To state that Jesus is the only ruler and that the ruler (of this world) will be judged is a bold satanic marking on Darby's "Version." Note: The prepositional phrase, "of this world' does not render this verse harmless because his "Version" states that Jesus Christ is the "only Ruler."]

Christians will be raised up by Jesus

Christians will be raised up with Jesus

Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.

2 Cor. 4:14

knowing that he who has raised the Lord Jesus shall raise us also with Jesus, and shall present us with you.

John Darby (also NKJV, etc.) boldly marked this passage for his master by communicating that Jesus Christ who was raised, will be raised in the future!

The dead in Christ will be raised bodily in the future but Jesus Christ has already bodily risen and his followers will be raised by him.

According to Darby's gnostically marked passage, Jesus Christ was raised from the dead but he also will be raised in the future. The gnostic message (2) contained in this passage is that Jesus was raised spiritually from the dead but that his physical resurrection will occur when his followers are resurrected.

The real English Bible (KJV) says,

And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. 1 Cor. 15:14

John Darby's preaching is in vain (via 2 Cor. 4:14 in his fake bible) because he sided with the occultists who created the revised Greek text in saying that Christ was raised and shall be raised (2 Cor. 4:14) rather than the truth: Jesus Christ is raised from the dead and we (his followers) will be raised by him.
