The following quote was taken from the Visions
of Hope Christian Book Review webpage:
"In the book, Tribulation Force, sequel to the bestseller
Left Behind, Rayford
Steele and Cameron Williams find themselves pressed into service for the man
they believe could be the antichrist. Nicolae Carpathia takes over the United
Nations, signs a peace treaty with Israel, and begins to lure the nations of
Earth together to form one global village. Meanwhile, the judgment of God begins
to fall on the earth."
Rayford and Buck were indeed "pressed into service" for the man
they knew was the Antichrist, but is being "pressed into
service" to work for Satan's head man on earth the kind of pressing a Christian is to
dedicate himself to? Is serving
the highest-level Satanist in the world pressing toward mark of the high calling
of God in Christ Jesus? (Phil. 3:14)
And as far as being pressed, they both could have said "No" and taken
the consequences of a demotion or even being fired. Or any consequence,
for that matter. They would have, as true Christians, most definitely said
"No" but the authors chose to have them sin grossly against God (and
be paid more than handsomely for it) so that good - getting inside information
for the Tribulation Force - would come forth from evil. "And not
rather, (as we be slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) Let us
do evil, that good may come? whose damnation is just." Romans
3:8
This is the worst kind of pragmatism, and the example it sets will be fatal if
believed by the multitude who read and consider these books to be examples of
Christian behavior and doctrine in these last days. Serving the Antichrist is
serving Satan. This is what Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins are conditioning
Christians to think is acceptable to God!
Next we'll explore how the authors set up the readers to view Rayford's and
Buck's decisions to work for the Antichrist and how they made it seem like they
were obeying God in doing it. See:
