"Snare of the Devil" is a Noose-like Trap For
Small Game?
The word, "snare," in the context of "snare of the devil,"
appears twice in the King James Bible:
Moreover he must have a good report
of them which are without; lest he fall into
reproach and the
snare of
the devil. 1 Tim. 3:7
And that they may recover
themselves out of the
snare of
the devil, who are
taken captive by him at his will. 2 Tim. 2:26
D. A. Waite, Jr. again provides a wrong definition in a verse
that pertains to a warning. The DEFINED King James Bible
says that "snare," in the context of "snare of the devil," means:
noose-like trap for small game (1 Tim. 3:7)
noose-like trap (2 Tim. 2:26)
What Does "Snare" mean in the Context of "Snare of the Devil"?
Webster's 1828 dictionary defines snare as:
n. 1. An instrument for catching
animals, particularly fowls, by the leg. It consists of a cord or string with
slip-knots, in which the leg is entangled. A snare is not a net.
2. Any thing by which one is entangled and brought into
trouble. I Cor. 7. A fool's lip are the snare of his soul.
Prov. 18.
The Webster's definition that fits the context of "snare of the devil" is
definition #2:
Anything by which one is entangled
and brought into trouble.
The freedictionary.com defines snare as:
n. 1. A
trapping device, often consisting of a noose, used for capturing
birds and small mammals.
2.
Something that
serves to entangle the unwary.
3. A surgical
instrument with a wire loop controlled by a mechanism in the
handle, used to remove growths, such as tumors and polyps.
The definition that works for the context of "snare of the devil"
is definition #2:
Something that serves to entangle the unwary.
D. A. Waite Jr. Redirects the Reader to His New
Definition For Snare of the Devil
D. A. Waite's out of context definition for "snare" in "snare
of the devil" effectively redirects the King James
Bible's warning about the snare of the devil. Instead of the reader gathering
from the context that the "snare of the devil" is a spiritual
snare, D. A. Waite, Jr. "footnotes" cause him to stumble into the trap of
thinking the "snare of the devil"
is merely:
a noose-like trap for small game
The King James Bible reader can easily keep his eye out for an
animal trap, especially since Satan does not use literal noose-like traps
for small game in order to ensare the saints of God.
Beware of D.A. Waite Jr's
false definition that changes a spiritual snare into a physical snare.
Warning: D. A. Waite, Sr. and D.
A. Waite, Jr. have turned every spiritual snare in the King James Bible into
a physical snare. They have removed God's warnings about dozens of spiritual
snares by falsely defining each one as a "noose-like trap for small game"!
