These critiques are for those of you
who are reading the Perhaps Today devotionals
at the Left Behind website, or who already have the book.
Note: Perhaps
Today is written for Christians who believe in
a pretrib rapture. I believe the Bible plainly teaches an "immediately after the
tribulation" return of the Lord Jesus Christ for his saints.
Regardless of the drive to separate Christians and cause them to distrust
each other over this issue, this is not an issue to divide
over.
Christians who
believe in a pretribulation Rapture are being slowly conditioned to think that anything goes in doctrine,
even heresy, as long as the teacher holds the pretrib view.
Pretrib and postrib believers
alike are being increasingly conditioned to distrust and discount other Christians on the sole basis of
differing eschatological views. The church is being divided
via certain "Christian" leaders who actually use eschatology as a tool
to pit Christians against each other.
Salvation teachings, as well as
other fundamentals of the faith must take precedence over eschatology. If
God's people are willing to side with the false salvation teachings of a teacher simply because he
holds the same end-time views, then you are willingly giving Satan place
in your life.
Satan will
use anything to distort God's Word on the subject of salvation. His
hatred for God's people strongly manifests itself in the "salvation" doctrines which include "turning the grace of our God
into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ."
If a pretrib teacher is teaching
false doctrine that will cause people to go to Hell, we must not gloss over this
sin due to loyalty to the pretrib camp. We must be willing to go without the
camp for the sake of our loyalty to the Lord Jesus:
Let us go forth therefore unto
him without the camp, bearing his reproach. (Heb. 13:13)
Loyalty to a teacher whose
doctrines are sending people to hell is loyalty to Satan.
Our loyalty must be to God
and his precious Word must take precedence over everything else. We must repent of the "respecting
of persons" that causes us to shrink back when His word is being twisted to
the destruction of souls.
