In this analysis we will compare the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) (1989 edition) to the King James Bible (KJ). K J V S. N R S V Gen. 1:2 KJ: "... And the SPIRIT OF GOD moved upon the face of the waters." NRSV: "... while a wind from God swept over the face of the waters." COMMENT: A wind? The "SPIRIT OF GOD" was involved in creation. Gen. 1:21 KJ: "And God created great WHALES, ..." NRSV: "So God created the great sea monsters ..." COMMENT: God creates 'sea monsters'? Gen. 2:7 KJ: "... and man became a living SOUL." NRSV: "... and the man became a living being." Comment: A MAJOR difference between man and beast is that man is the ONLY creature with a "SOUL". Gen. 2:13 KJ: "... land of ETHIOPIA." NRSV: "... land of Cush." Comment: I know where Ethiopia is, but where is Cush? Question: Is the NRSV's 'Cush' a "simpler, and more easily understandable word" than the King James' "ETHIOPIA"? Gen. 3:4-5 KJ: "And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil." ------- NRSV: "But the serpent said to the woman, 'You will not die; for God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.'" -------- COMMENT: This is MAJOR blasphemy! God (with a big G) is not evil! Think about the difference. Gen. 6:8 KJ: "But Noah found GRACE in the eyes of the Lord." NRSV: "But Noah found favor in the sight of the Lord." COMMENT: God's GRACE was extended in the Old Testament, too. Oh, BTW, an amateur archeologist has found the remains of Noah's ark. I've seen their DVD and I believe it is real. Their web site is: http://www.wyattmuseum.com/noahsark.htm There are people today that are looking for the ark on Mount Ararat. But, check your King James Bible. In Genesis 8:4 it says "the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the MOUNTAINS (PLURAL) of Ararat". The amateur archeologist found the remains of Noah's ark 12 miles from Mt. Ararat within the MOUNTAINS of Ararat. The discovered ark is 1 inch off, that's right, 1 inch off, from 300 cubits (Gen. 6:15) in length. Gen. 11:1 KJ: "And the whole earth was of one language, and of ONE SPEECH." NRSV: "... one language and the same words." Gen. 22:8 KJ: "And Abraham said, My son, God will PROVIDE HIMSELF a lamb for a burnt offering: ..." NRSV: "Abraham said, 'God himself will provide the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.'" Comment: It is true, as the NRSV says, that God 'himself' did provide the lamb. However, that is only part of the story! The NRSV totally misses the DEEPER, and more amazing truth: GOD WAS the sacrifice! The King James wording is perfect: "God will PROVIDE HIMSELF" (in the form of his only begotten son JESUS CHRIST) as the offering. Gen. 24:47 KJ: "... and I put the EARRING UPON HER FACE, ..." NRSV: "... So I put the ring on her nose, ..." COMMENT: The NRSV put WHAT on her nose? Gen. 49:10 KJ: "The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, ... until SHILOH come; and unto him [shall] the gathering of the people [be]." NRSV: "... until tribute comes to him; ..." COMMENT: "SHILOH" here refers to Christ as Peace Maker. The NRSV robs him of his Messianic rule. Exod. 25:35 KJ: "And [there shall be] a KNOP under two branches ..." NRSV: "There shall be a calyx of one piece ..." COMMENT: Is the NRSV's 'calyx' a "clearer, more easily understood word" than the King James' "KNOP"? Lev. 3:13 KJ: "... and the sons of Aaron shall SPRINKLE the blood thereof upon the altar ..." NRSV: "... and the sons of Aaron shall dash its blood against all sides of the altar." Joshua 12:23 KJ: "... the king of the NATIONS of Gilgal, ..." NRSV: "... the king of Goiim in Galilee, ..." COMMENT: Is the NRSV's 'Goiim' a "clearer, more easily understood word" than the King James' "NATIONS"? Judges 7:20 KJ: "... The sword OF the Lord, and OF Gideon." NRSV: "... A sword for the Lord and for Gideon!" COMMENT: Notice "OF" was changed to "FOR". Big difference in those two meanings. Judges 19:2 KJ: "And his concubine PLAYED THE WHORE against him, ..." NRSV: "But his concubine became angry with him, ..." COMMENT: Is 'being angry' the same as PLAYING THE WHORE? 2Sam. 16:4 KJ: "... And Ziba said, I humbly BESEECH thee [that] I may find GRACE in thy sight, my lord, O king." NRSV: "... Ziba said, 'I do obeisance; let me find favor in your sight, my lord the king.'" 2Sam. 21:19 KJ: "... Elhanan ... slew [THE BROTHER OF] Goliath ..." NRSV: "... Elhanan ... killed Goliath ..." COMMENT: Elhanan killed Goliath? WHAT? Sunday school CHILDREN know that DAVID slew Goliath! The NRSV translation 'scholars' really blew this one! Oh, BTW, for a good book on the quality of the King James translators please see: "The Men Behind The KJV" by: Gustavus S. Paine ISBN: 0-8010-7008-2 published by Baker Book House. Scholar for scholar the translators of the KJ Bible were far greater men of God than any today. John Bois could read the Bible, in Hebrew, at age 5. Lancelot Andrews was fluent in 20 languages. John Chedderton knew Greek, Hebrew and Latin as well as you and I know English (and better) etc. 1Kings 14:24 KJ: "And there were also SODOMITES in the land: ..." NRSV: "... there were also male temple prostitutes in the land. ..." COMMENT: Sodomites and prostitutes are NOT the same. Sodomy is an ABOMINATION (Lev 18:22). The NRSV has REMOVED sodomites. Oh, BTW, an amateur archeologist has found the remains of Sodom and Gomorrah. I've seen their DVD and I believe it is real. Their web site is: http://www.wyattmuseum.com/cities-of-the-plain.htm 1Kings 15:12 KJ: "And he took away the SODOMITES out of the land, ..." NRSV: "He put away the male temple prostitutes out of the land, ..." COMMENT: Again, the NRSV changes SODOMITES to PROSTITUTES. Sodomy, and this WARNING against it, are gone in the NRSV here in 1Kings 15:12, AND in 1Kings 14:24, AND in 1Kings 22:46 AND in 2Kings 23:7. 1Kings 19:12 KJ: "... A STILL SMALL VOICE." NRSV: "... a sound of sheer silence." COMMENT: In the English language, there's a vast difference between 'sheer silence' and "a still small voice!" I'm sure the reader will agree. 1Kings 20:38 KJ: "... with ASHES upon his FACE." NRSV: "... with a bandage over his eyes." COMMENT: In English, "ASHES" and 'bandage' are two different words entirely, so are "FACE" and 'eyes'. Ezra 8:36 KJ: "And they delivered the king's commissions unto the king's LIEUTENANTS, ..." NRSV: "They also delivered the king's commissions to the king's satraps ..." COMMENT: Is the NRSV's 'satraps' a "clearer, more easily understood word" than the King James' "LIEUTENANTS"? Psalm 2:12 KJ: "Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, ..." NRSV: "kiss his feet, or he will be angry, ..." Psalm 9:17 KJ: "The wicked shall be turned INTO HELL, ..." NRSV: "The wicked shall depart to Sheol, ..." COMMENT: The NRSV has DELETED hell. Is this an attempt to sell more NRSVs? Psalm 48:10 KJ: "... thy right hand is full of RIGHTEOUSNESS." NRSV: "... Your right hand is filled with victory." COMMENT: There's a lot of difference between "RIGHTEOUSNESS" and 'victory'. Psalm 72:8 KJ: "He SHALL have dominion also FROM SEA TO SEA, ..." NRSV: "May he have dominion ..." COMMENT: This verse is speaking of Christ as king and he "SHALL" have dominion is watered down to just 'may' he have dominion. Psalm 72:11 KJ: "Yea, all kings SHALL fall down before him: ..." NRSV: "May all kings fall down before him, ..." COMMENT: All kings "SHALL" fall down is watered down to 'may' fall down. Here the Messianic rule of Christ is destroyed. Psalm 109:6 KJ: "Set thou a wicked man over him: and let SATAN stand at his right hand." NRSV: "... Appoint a wicked man against him; let an accuser stand on his right." COMMENT: Satan has been REMOVED. Eccl. 5:20 KJ: "... God ANSWERETH [HIM] in the joy of his heart." NRSV: "... God keeps them occupied with the joy of their hearts." COMMENT: The NRSV translators blew this one. Isaiah 7:14 KJ: "... Behold, a VIRGIN shall conceive, ..." NRSV: "... Look, the young woman is with child ..." COMMENT: 'Young woman', WHAT? If Mary is just a 'young woman' and she is pregnant, this is NOT a miracle. ONLY Mary being a VIRGIN is a miracle. ALSO: Mary being a young woman, NOT MARRIED, and PREGNANT? What does this say about Mary? Think about it. A LOT is involved here. The NRSV is BLASPHEMOUS. Isaiah 11:3 KJ: "And shall make him of quick understanding ..." NRSV: Omitted COMMENT: The verse is speaking of Jesus and says he will be "of quick understanding". The NRSV omits this. Isaiah 32:2 KJ: "And A MAN shall be as an hiding place from the wind, ..." NRSV: "Each will be like a hiding place from the wind, ..." COMMENT: The "MAN" here can be no one but Christ. Just another case of setting aside the Lord Jesus, and giving us a substitute. Think how serious all these corruptions are, and how they destroy the word of God by substitution. Jer. 48:12 KJ: "Therefore, ... saith the Lord, ... I will send unto him WANDERERS, ..." NRSV: "Therefore, ... says the Lord, ... I shall send to him decanters ..." COMMENT: Is the NRSV's 'decanters' a "simpler and more easily understood word", than the King James' WANDERERS? Dan. 3:25 KJ: "... and the form of the fourth is like THE SON OF GOD." NRSV: "... and the fourth has the appearance of a god." COMMENT: 'Appearance of a god?' It was Jesus Christ, THE SON OF GOD (Big G), who was in the fiery furnace with Shadrach, Messach, and Abednego. It was Jesus Christ who protected them and it is Jesus Christ who saves us from the fiery furnace (i.e. from hell). Hosea 11:12 KJ: "... but Judah yet RULETH WITH GOD, and is faithful with the saints." NRSV: "... but Judah still walks with God, and is faithful to the Holy One." COMMENT: The NRSV has watered down "RULING" with God and made it only 'walking' with God. Hosea 13:9 KJ: "O Israel, THOU HAST DESTROYED THYSELF; but in me [is] thine help." NRSV: "I WILL DESTROY YOU, O Israel; who can help you?" COMMENT: Here is a splendid example of how new version 'scripture' is often made to say exactly the OPPOSITE of what was given by inspiration of Almighty God. Micah 5:2 KJ: "... Bethlehem ... out of thee shall he come forth unto me [that is] to be ruler in Israel; whose GOINGS FORTH [have been] from of old, from everlasting." NRSV: "... whose ORIGIN is from of old, ..." COMMENT: This refers to the Lord Jesus and the NRSV makes him a CREATED BEING having an ORIGIN! How can a child of God stand before an audience and read from such a book? Zech. 9:9 KJ: "... behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he [is] just, and having SALVATION; ..." NRSV: "... Lo, your king comes to you; triumphant and victorious ..." COMMENT: Reference to Christ's SALVATION is removed. Zech. 11:17 KJ: "Woe to the IDOL shepherd that leaveth the flock! ..." NRSV: "Oh, my worthless shepherd, who deserts the flock! ..." COMMENT: The scholars missed this one. Matt. 2:4 KJ: "... he (King Herod) DEMANDED of them where Christ should be born." NRSV: "... he inquired of them where the Messiah was to be born." COMMENT: King Herod, FURIOUS over the arrival of Jesus, (and wanting to DO AWAY with him) did not 'inquire' where Christ should be born. He DEMANDED to know! Matt. 5:22 KJ: "But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother WITHOUT A CAUSE shall be in danger of the judgment: ..." NRSV: "But I say to you that if you are angry with a brother or sister, you will be liable to judgment; ..." COMMENT: WHAT? The NRSV says you can't be angry with your brother?!!! The Apostle Paul was ANGRY and withstood the Apostle Peter to his face (Gal. 2:11). Jesus was ANGRY with the Church at Pergamos because of the erroneous doctrine of the Nicolaitanes (Rev 2:15). The Bible says to BE ANGRY but sin not (Eph. 4:26) and it says not to let the sun go down on YOUR ANGER (Eph. 4:26). The King James is CORRECT: Whosoever is angry with his brother WITHOUT A CAUSE is in danger of the judgment. There is a HUGE difference between those two verses. Matt. 6:13 KJ: "... For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen." NRSV: Omitted COMMENT: The NRSV omits all this. Matt. 7:14 KJ: "Because strait [is] the gate, and NARROW [is] the WAY, ..." NRSV: "For the gate is narrow and the road is hard ..." COMMENT: 'Road (i.e. way) is hard'? No! "NARROW is the WAY". Matt. 8:19 KJ: "And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, MASTER, I will follow thee ..." NRSV: "A scribe then approached and said, 'Teacher, I will follow you ...'" COMMENT: Jesus AS MASTER is watered down to just 'teacher'. Matt. 9:13 KJ: "... for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners TO REPENTANCE." NRSV: "... For I have come to call not the righteous but sinners." COMMENT: Those last two words in the KJ ARE CRUCIAL. HELL will get all of the sinners who DON'T repent. JESUS will get all the sinners who DO repent! There is a BIG difference in those two outcomes. And there is a BIG difference in those two verses. Matt. 11:23 KJ: "And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to HELL: ..." NRSV: "And you, Capernaum, ... will be brought down to Hades. ..." COMMENT: Hell is GONE in this verse in the NRSV. Matt. 12:6 KJ: "... That in this place is [ONE] GREATER than the temple." NRSV: "I tell you, something greater than the temple is here." Matt. 12:32 KJ: "... but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither IN THIS WORLD, neither IN THE [WORLD] TO COME." NRSV: "... but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come." Matt. 12:40 KJ: "For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the WHALE'S belly; ..." NRSV: "For just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the sea monster, ..." COMMENT: The Lord Jesus Christ makes 'sea monsters'? Matt. 12:42 KJ: "... behold, A GREATER THAN SOLOMON [is] here." NRSV: "... and see, something greater than Solomon is here!" Matt. 13:39 KJ: "... the harvest is the END OF THE WORLD; ..." NRSV: "... the harvest is the end of the age, ..." COMMENT: The harvest comes at the END OF THE WORLD. Matt. 16:18 KJ: "... upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates OF HELL shall not prevail against it." NRSV: "... and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it." COMMENT: Hell is GONE (again) in this verse in the NRSV. Matt. 17:21 KJ: "Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by PRAYER and FASTING." NRSV: Omitted COMMENT: To cast out certain devils requires PRAYER and FASTING. The NRSV ignores this. Matt. 18:11 KJ: "For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost." NRSV: Omitted Comment: Jesus' ENTIRE PURPOSE for coming to earth, is OMITTED in the NRSV. Matt. 19:9 KJ: "And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except [it be] for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: AND WHOSO MARRIETH HER WHICH IS PUT AWAY DOTH COMMIT ADULTERY." NRSV: "And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for unchastity, and marries another commits adultery." COMMENT: An IMPORTANT verse about marriage, yet the NRSV deletes about one third of it. Matt. 19:17 KJ: "... WHY CALLEST THOU ME GOOD? ..." NRSV: "... Why do you ask me about what is good? ..." Matt. 20:20 KJ: "Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children with her sons, WORSHIPPING [him], ..." NRSV: "Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came to him with her sons, and kneeling before him, ..." COMMENT: Kneeling is not even close to TRUE "WORSHIP". Matt. 23:8 KJ: "But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your MASTER, [even] Christ; ..." NRSV: "But you are not to be called rabbi, for you have one teacher, and you are all students." COMMENT: "MASTER" is watered down to just 'teacher', and ON TOP OF THAT the NRSV doesn't even NAME the teacher. Matt. 23:14 KJ: "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a PRETENCE make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater DAMNATION." NRSV: Omitted COMMENT: Jesus condemns hypocrisy, yet this warning is not in the NRSV. Matt. 24:3 KJ: "... Tell us, ... of the END OF THE WORLD ..." NRSV: "... Tell us, ... of the end of the age ..." COMMENT: Jesus isn't being asked about a "new time period", or a "new dispensation". He is being asked about the WORLD COMING TO AN END. There is a difference. Matt. 25:13 KJ: "... ye know neither the day nor the hour WHEREIN THE SON OF MAN COMETH." NRSV: "... for you know neither the day nor the hour." COMMENT: Who is it that is coming again? That's right: JESUS! But, you wouldn't know it from the NRSV. Matt. 27:4 KJ: "... I have sinned in that I have betrayed THE INNOCENT BLOOD. ..." NRSV: "... I have sinned by betraying innocent blood. ..." COMMENT: Many people are innocent of certain crimes. But, ONLY JESUS CHRIST was "THE" INNOCENT BLOOD. Think about it. Mark 1:2 KJ: "As it is written IN THE PROPHETS, BEHOLD, I SEND MY MESSENGER BEFORE THY FACE, WHICH SHALL PREPARE THY WAY BEFORE THEE." NRSV: "As it is written in the prophet Isaiah, ..." COMMENT: Contrary to what the NRSV says, the scripture quoted in Mark 1:2 DID NOT come from 'Isaiah'. The scripture is from Malachi 3:1. Check it out. So, just like the King James says: "As it is written IN THE PROPHETS, ..." (because Malachi was a prophet). Mark 1:15 KJ: "... the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe THE GOSPEL." NRSV: "... the kingdom has come near; repent, and believe in the good news." COMMENT: Many things are 'generic' good news. For example: The birth of my daughter was good news, BUT IT DIDN'T SAVE ANYBODY! The correct COMMANDMENT is to BELIEVE THE GOSPEL. Mark 3:5 KJ: "... his hand was restored WHOLE AS THE OTHER." NRSV: "... and his hand was restored." Mark 6:11 KJ: "And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. VERILY I SAY UNTO YOU, IT SHALL BE MORE TOLERABLE FOR SODOM AND GOMORRHA IN THE DAY OF JUDGMENT, THAN FOR THAT CITY." NRSV: "If any place will not welcome you and they refuse to hear you, as you leave, shake off the dust that is on your feet as a testimony against them." COMMENT: An important WARNING from Jesus, but the NRSV leaves out about half of it. Mark 6:51 KJ: "... and they were SORE AMAZED IN THEMSELVES BEYOND MEASURE, AND WONDERED." NRSV: "... And they were utterly astounded," Mark 7:16 KJ: "If any man have ears to hear, let him hear." NRSV: Omitted COMMENT: Numbering verses 14, 15, and then 17 is NOT new math. The NRSV leaves out JESUS' COMMAND TO HEAR HIM. Mark 9:24 KJ: "... Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief." NRSV: "...'I believe; help my unbelief!'" Mark 9:44,46 KJ: "Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched." NRSV: This verse, in both Mark 9:44 and Mark 9:46 is omitted. Mark 10:24 KJ: "... Children, how hard is it FOR THEM THAT TRUST IN RICHES to enter into the kingdom of God!" NRSV: "... Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God!" COMMENT: The problem, as correctly stated in the King James Bible, is: TRUSTING IN RICHES. Mark 11:10 KJ: "... Blessed [be] the kingdom of our FATHER David, THAT COMETH IN THE NAME OF THE LORD: HOSANNA IN THE HIGHEST." NRSV: "Blessed is the coming kingdom of our ancestor David! ..." COMMENT: Note: The NRSV is biased against Fathers in this verse (and in others). So, what you see is the use of the word "ancestor" instead of Father. But, the King James Bible is clear: God's hierarchy includes the Father. (And God also holds fathers responsible, too). Mark 11:26 KJ: "But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses." NRSV: Omitted COMMENT: A HUGE warning, yet Mark 11:26 is omitted in the NRSV. Mark 13:6 KJ: "For many shall come in my name, saying, I am [CHRIST]; ..." NRSV: "Many will come in my name and say, 'I am he!' ..." COMMENT: 'He' could be ANYBODY. For example, yours truly is a 'he', but I am not Jesus Christ! Mark 15:28 KJ: "And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, AND HE WAS NUMBERED WITH THE TRANSGRESSORS." NRSV: Omitted Mark 16:9-20 KJ: (All verses of Mark 16:9-20 are included) NRSV: Mark 16:9-20 gives the footnote, "Some of the most ancient authorities bring the book to a close at the end of verse 8". COMMENT: In John Burgeon's book, "The Last Twelve Verses of the Gospel of Mark", he has written over 400 pages proving conclusively that this section was in the original manuscripts. Burgeon's book remains unanswered and is unanswerable. Mark 16:15 KJ: "... Go ye into all the world, and preach THE GOSPEL ..." NRSV: "... Go into all the world and proclaim the good news ..." COMMENT: There are a lot of items in the news that are 'good news', but Jesus said to SPECIFICALLY PREACH THE GOSPEL. Luke 2:33 KJ: "And JOSEPH and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him." NRSV: "And the child's father and mother were amazed at what was being said about him." COMMENT: What? GOD WAS THE FATHER OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST -NOT JOSEPH! If Jesus had only an earthly father and mother, then he is just any man. If he is just any man, then we are still in our sins. If we are still in our sins, then we are not saved! If we are not saved, then we have a BIG, BIG, problem! Luke 2:49 KJ: "... I must be about my Father's BUSINESS ..." NRSV: "... I must be in my Father's house ..." COMMENT: Don't the 'scholars' know the difference between "BUSINESS" and a 'house'? Luke 4:4 KJ: "... man shall not live by bread alone, BUT BY EVERY WORD OF GOD." NRSV: "... One does not live by bread alone." COMMENT: Other than bread, what else does man need? The NRSV doesn't say. Only the King James tells us: We need EVERY WORD OF GOD! Luke 4:8 KJ: "And Jesus answered and said unto him, GET THEE BEHIND ME, SATAN: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve." NRSV: "Jesus answered him, 'It is written, Worship the Lord your God, and serve only him.'" COMMENT: The NRSV omits "Get thee behind me, Satan." Luke 4:18 KJ: "The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; HE HATH SENT ME TO HEAL THE BROKENHEARTED, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised," NRSV: Luke 4:18 omits entirely, "he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted,". Luke 9:55-56 KJ: "But he turned, and rebuked them, AND SAID, YE KNOW NOT WHAT MANNER OF SPIRIT YE ARE OF. FOR THE SON OF MAN IS NOT COME TO DESTROY MEN'S LIVES, BUT TO SAVE [THEM]. And they went to another village." NRSV: "But he turned and rebuked them. Then they went on to another village." COMMENT: The NRSV omits a major section of scripture. Again, this casts doubt on the veracity, and the authenticity of this passage. Luke 11:2 KJ: "And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, OUR FATHER WHICH ART IN HEAVEN, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, AS IN HEAVEN, SO IN EARTH." NRSV: "He said to them, 'When you pray, say: Father, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come.'" COMMENT: The NRSV leaves out "OUR" and "... WHICH ART IN HEAVEN, ..." (so we don't know which Father we are praying to). Satan is a father: the father of lies. It also leaves out "... THY WILL BE DONE, AS IN HEAVEN, SO IN EARTH ..." (so, do we want our will to be done, and not God's?). Why is all this OMITTED in the NRSV? Luke 11:4 KJ: "... And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from EVIL." NRSV: "... And do not bring us to the time of trial." Luke 11:29 KJ: "... but the sign of Jonas THE PROPHET." NRSV: "... except the sign of Jonah." Luke 16:23 KJ: "And in HELL he lift up his eyes, ..." NRSV: "In Hades, where he was being tormented, ..." COMMENT: Hell is DELETED in this verse in the NRSV. Luke 17:36 KJ: "Two [men] shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left." NRSV: Omitted Luke 21:8 KJ: "... for many shall come in my name, saying, I am [CHRIST]; ..." NRSV: "... for many will come in my name and say, 'I am he!' ..." COMMENT: Who is this 'He'? 'He' could be ANYBODY. Luke 23:17 KJ: "(For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.)" NRSV: Omitted COMMENT: Again, this casts doubt on a passage in God's word. Luke 23:23 KJ: "... And the voices of them AND OF THE CHIEF PRIESTS prevailed." NRSV: "... and their voices prevailed." Luke 23:42 KJ: "And he said unto Jesus, LORD, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom." NRSV: "Then he said, 'Jesus, remember me when you come in your kingdom!'" COMMENT: There is no explanation for leaving out "LORD". The thief GOT SAVED, so of course he addressed Jesus as LORD! Luke 23:45 KJ: "And the sun was DARKENED, ..." NRSV: "... while the sun's light failed; ..." COMMENT: Why did the sun's light fail? Only the King James lets us know: It was supernaturally DARKENED. Luke 24:46 KJ: "... and thus it BEHOVED Christ to suffer, ..." NRSV: "... that the Messiah is to suffer ..." COMMENT: The NRSV misses a HUGE POINT: It BEHOVED Christ to suffer. He did it WILLINGLY. John 1:3 KJ: "All things were made BY him; ..." NRSV: "All things came into being through him, ..." COMMENT: "BY" and 'through' are totally different. Think about it. John 1:10 KJ: "He was in the world, and the world was made BY him, ..." NRSV: "... and the world came into being through him; ..." COMMENT: Again, "BY" and 'through' are not the same. John 1:42 KJ: "And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, WHICH IS BY INTERPRETATION, A STONE." NRSV: "He brought Simon to Jesus, who looked at him and said, 'You are Simon son of John. You are to be called Cephas' (which is translated Peter)." COMMENT: The NRSV omits: Thou shall be called Cephas, WHICH IS BY INTERPRETATION, A STONE. This omission is DISASTROUS. Jesus calls Peter "A STONE" to differentiate Peter from Jesus who is THE ROCK (1Co. 10:4). Thus, when Jesus says: upon THIS ROCK (not stone) I will build my Church (Matt. 16:18) Jesus is NOT referring to Peter. And that is one of many errors in Catholic doctrine. John 3:13 KJ: "And NO MAN hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, [even] the Son of man which is in heaven." NRSV: "No one has ascended into heaven except the one who descended from heaven, the Son of Man." COMMENT: Not true, NRSV. Remember the angels on Jacob's ladder? They ascended and descended. Once again, the King James has the CORRECT READING and that is: NO MAN hath ascended up to heaven ... ALSO, Satan went into heaven and made accusations against Job (Job 1:6). Remember? John 3:13 KJ: "... [even] the Son of man WHICH IS IN HEAVEN." NRSV: "... the Son of Man." John 3:16 KJ: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only BEGOTTEN Son, ..." NRSV: "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, ..." COMMENT: Believers in God are called his sons and daughters. God did not give his 'only' son. He has MANY sons. God gave his ONLY BEGOTTEN Son. John 4:24 KJ: "God [is] A Spirit: ..." NRSV: "God is spirit, ..." COMMENT: The NRSV says: "God is spirit" inferring ALL spirits are of God. NOT TRUE! There are evil spirits. But, in God there is NO evil. So, the King James is correct: God is "A" Spirit. John 5:4 KJ: "For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had." NRSV: Omitted COMMENT: This injects another doubt as to the authority and accuracy of God's word. John 5:16 KJ: "And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, AND SOUGHT TO SLAY HIM, because he had done these things on the sabbath day." NRSV: "Therefore the Jews started persecuting Jesus, because he was doing such things on the sabbath." COMMENT: There is no reason given for omitting this phrase or for brushing over the fact that the Jews wanted to MURDER Jesus. John 6:33 KJ: "For the bread of God is HE which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world." NRSV: "For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world." John 6:47 KJ: "... He that believeth ON ME hath everlasting life." NRSV: "... whoever believes has eternal life." COMMENT: Believes WHO, or WHAT? Everyone who 'believes' DOES NOT have everlasting life. Only those who believe ON JESUS. The two words "ON ME" are CRITICAL. John 6:69 KJ: "And we BELIEVE and ARE SURE that thou art that CHRIST, THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD." NRSV: "We have come to believe and know that you are the Holy One of God." COMMENT: What happened to CHRIST? And, what happened to him being the Son of the LIVING GOD? John 8:9 KJ: "And they which heard [it], BEING CONVICTED BY [THEIR OWN] CONSCIENCE, went out one by one, ..." NRSV: "When they heard it, they went away, one by one, ..." COMMENT: No reason is given for omitting this phrase. John 8:59 KJ: "Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, GOING THROUGH THE MIDST OF THEM, AND SO PASSED BY." NRSV: "So they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple." COMMENT: Quite a different thought. John 9:4 KJ: "I must work the works of him that sent me, ..." NRSV: "We must work the works of him who sent me ..." John 9:35 KJ: "... Dost thou believe on the SON OF GOD?" NRSV: "... Do you believe in the Son of Man?" John 10:30 KJ: "I and [MY] Father are one." NRSV: "The Father and I are one." COMMENT: Notice: The KJ's "MY Father" is gone and is replaced by 'the' Father. Thus, the NRSV deletes the PERSONAL relationship of "MY FATHER" between Jesus and the heavenly Father. John 14:16 KJ: "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another COMFORTER, ..." NRSV: "And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, ..." John 14:26 KJ: "But the COMFORTER, [which is] the Holy Ghost, ..." NRSV: "But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, ..." John 15:26 KJ: "But when the COMFORTER is come, ..." NRSV: "When the Advocate comes, ..." John 16:7 KJ: "... for if I go not away, the COMFORTER will not come ..." NRSV: "... for if I do not go away, the Advocate will not come ..." Acts 2:30 KJ: "... that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, ACCORDING TO THE FLESH, HE WOULD RAISE UP CHRIST to sit on his throne;" NRSV: "... he would put one of his descendants on his throne." COMMENT: The NRSV totally misses the point. It wasn't just a 'descendant' that would sit on the throne; it was GOD ALMIGHTY (Jesus Christ). Acts 2:47 KJ: "... And the Lord added TO THE CHURCH daily such as SHOULD BE saved." NRSV: "... the Lord added to their number those who were BEING SAVED." COMMENT: The people that were added were added to THE CHURCH (not to 'their number'). Also, salvation is an IMMEDIATE event. It is NOT A PROCESS. People are either SAVED or they are NOT. They are NOT 'being' saved. Acts 3:13 KJ: "The God of Abraham, ... hath glorified HIS SON Jesus; ..." NRSV: "The God of Abraham, ... has glorified his servant Jesus, ..." COMMENT: Jesus as GOD'S SON has been watered down to just a 'servant' in the NRSV. Acts 3:26 KJ: "... God, having raised up HIS SON Jesus, ..." NRSV: "When God raised up his servant ..." COMMENT: The NRSV waters down GOD'S SON Jesus to just 'servant' and then does not even name the servant. Acts 4:27 KJ: "... thy HOLY CHILD Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, ..." NRSV: "... your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed," COMMENT: Again, the NRSV waters down Jesus. This time GOD'S HOLY CHILD is watered down to just a 'holy servant'. Acts 4:30 KJ: "... thy HOLY CHILD Jesus." NRSV: "... your holy servant Jesus." COMMENT: One more time: The NRSV waters down GOD'S HOLY CHILD to just 'holy servant'. Acts 8:9 KJ: "... a certain man, ... used sorcery, and BEWITCHED the people ..." NRSV: "... a certain man ... practiced magic ... and amazed the people ..." COMMENT: No! No! No! He didn't 'amaze' the people (as if they were being entertained). No, he BEWITCHED them (to their DETRIMENT). Acts 8:37 KJ: "And Philip said, IF THOU BELIEVEST WITH ALL THINE HEART, THOU MAYEST. And he answered and said, I BELIEVE THAT JESUS CHRIST IS THE SON OF GOD." NRSV: OMITTED COMMENT: This verse shows THE requirement for water baptism namely: BELIEVING that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. But, both Codex Aleph and B leave this verse out and they are TWO OF THE WORST manuscripts. This is a good example of the spiritual BATTLE that has, and still surrounds, the word of God. Acts 9:5-6 KJ: "And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: [IT IS] HARD FOR THEE TO KICK AGAINST THE PRICKS. AND HE TREMBLING AND ASTONISHED SAID, LORD, WHAT WILT THOU HAVE ME TO DO? And the Lord [said] unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do." NRSV: "He asked, 'Who are you, Lord?'. The reply came, 'I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. But get up and enter the city, and you will be told what you are to do.'" COMMENT: It was THE LORD THAT SPOKE, not just a 'reply came'! A reply could be ANYBODY. The translators have emasculated these two verses. Acts 9:20 KJ: "And straightway he preached CHRIST ..." NRSV: "and immediately he began to proclaim Jesus ..." COMMENT: Christ is missing. Acts 10:37 KJ: "THAT WORD, [I say], ye know, which was PUBLISHED THROUGHOUT ALL JUDAEA, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;" NRSV: "That message spread throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John announced:" COMMENT: Notice how VAGUE the NRSV is. It says: 'that message' but then doesn't say WHAT MESSAGE! The King James tells us: THE WORD WAS PUBLISHED THROUGHOUT ALL JUDAEA. Acts 12:4 KJ: "... after EASTER ..." NRSV: "... after the Passover." COMMENT: Herod was a HEATHEN King so he did NOT regard Passover! He would have regarded Easter, though. Note: Passover is BIBLICAL. But, do a thorough study about Easter and you will find out it is PAGAN. Acts 15:11 KJ: "But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus CHRIST we shall be saved, even as they." NRSV: "... we believe that we will be saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, just as they will." COMMENT: What happened to "CHRIST"? Acts 15:34 KJ: "Notwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide there still." NRSV: Omitted with no note as to why. COMMENT: Numbering verses 32, 33, and then 35 ... is NOT new math. Acts 16:31 KJ: "And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus CHRIST, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." NRSV: "They answered, 'Believe on the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.'" COMMENT: Again, they omit "Christ". Acts 17:22 KJ: "Then Paul stood in the midst of MARS' HILL, and said, [Ye] men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are TOO SUPERSTITIOUS." NRSV: "Then Paul stood in front of the Areopagus and said, 'Athenians, I see how extremely religious you are in every way.'" Comment: Being 'extremely religious' and "TOO SUPERSTITIOUS" are entirely different! Also, is the NRSV's 'Areopagus' "simpler, and more understandable", than the King James' MARS' HILL? Acts 17:29 KJ: "... we ought not to think that the GODHEAD is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, ..." NRSV: "... we ought not to think that the deity is like gold, or silver, or stone, ..." Acts 18:12 KJ: "And when Gallio was the DEPUTY of Achaia, ..." NRSV: "But when Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, ..." COMMENT: Is the NRSV's 'proconsul' a "simpler, and more easily understood word", than the King James' DEPUTY? Acts 20:24 KJ: "... the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me. BUT NONE OF THESE THINGS MOVE ME, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, ..." NRSV: Omitted COMMENT: The following is omitted: "But none of these things move me" and no reason is given for the omission. The Apostle Paul was NOT MOVED by his circumstances. Thus, he could preach the Gospel with BOLDNESS! May we have the SAME ATTITUDE he had, and may we also preach with BOLDNESS! Thanks to the King James Bible for insight into this man of God. Acts 21:9 KJ: "And the same man had four daughters, VIRGINS, which did prophesy." NRSV: "He had four UNMARRIED daughters ..." COMMENT: What happened to the blessing of VIRGINITY? 'New versions' like the NRSV do not like the topic of virginity. Also, being a "VIRGIN" and being 'unmarried' are VERY different. Acts 23:9 KJ: "... let us not fight against God." NRSV: Omitted COMMENT: Some good advice, don't you think? Acts 24:6-7 KJ: "Who also hath gone about to profane the temple: whom we took, and would have judged according to our law. 7 But the chief captain Lysias came [upon us], and with great violence took [him] away out of our hands," NRSV: Most of this has been omitted. Acts 24:14 KJ: "But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call HERESY, so worship I the God of my fathers, ..." NRSV: "But this I admit to you, that according to the Way, which they call a sect, I worship the God of our ancestors, ..." COMMENT: The unbelievers who came against the Apostle Paul did NOT think Christianity was a 'sect'. No, they thought it was HERESY. Acts 28:29 KJ: "And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves." NRSV: Acts 28:29 is omitted. COMMENT: The VAST MAJORITY of manuscripts have this verse! This is still another doubt cast upon the word of God. Romans 1:16 KJ: "For I am not ashamed of the gospel OF CHRIST: ..." NRSV: "For I am not ashamed of the gospel; ..." COMMENT: Whose gospel? The key words are: OF CHRIST. The NRSV leaves the reader guessing. Romans 1:18 KJ: "... men, who HOLD THE TRUTH in unrighteousness;" NRSV: "... those who by their wickedness suppress the truth." Romans 1:25 KJ: "Who CHANGED the truth of God INTO a lie, ..." NRSV: "... they exchanged the truth about God for a lie ..." COMMENT: Those 2 verses are NOT the same. Romans 6:18 KJ: "Being then made free from sin, ye became the SERVANTS of righteousness." NRSV: "... you, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness." COMMENT: Are we 'slaves' or "SERVANTS"? Answer: SERVANTS! Think about the difference. Romans 6:19 KJ: "... now yield your members SERVANTS to righteousness ..." NRSV: "... now present your members as slaves to righteousness ..." COMMENT: Again, are we 'slaves' or "SERVANTS"? Answer: SERVANTS! There is a difference. Romans 6:22 KJ: "But now being made free from sin, and become SERVANTS to God, ..." NRSV: "But now that you have been freed from sin and enslaved to God, ..." COMMENT: WHAT? 'Enslaved to God'? No! No! No! We are "SERVANTS" to God, as properly stated in the King James Bible. Romans 9:5 KJ: "... concerning the flesh Christ [came], who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen." NRSV: "... from them, according to the flesh, comes the Messiah, who is over all, God blessed forever. Amen." Romans 13:9 KJ: "... Thou shalt not bear false witness, ..." NRSV: Omitted COMMENT: The Bible says that all liars (false witnesses) go to the lake of fire (Rev. 21:8). So, why leave this out? Romans 14:1 KJ: "Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, [but] not to DOUBTFUL disputations." NRSV: "Welcome those who are weak in faith, but not for the purpose of quarreling over opinions." COMMENT: Notice: The KJ does NOT say we cannot have disputes; only that we should not have DOUBTFUL disputes. What are doubtful disputes? Whether we can 'eat all things' or only 'herbs'(Romans 14:2) or whether we 'esteem every day alike' or 'one day over another' (Romans 14:5). But, in the NRSV we would NEVER DISPUTE ANYTHING including KEY DOCTRINE like Paul and Barnabus going up to Jerusalem concerning whether circumcision was necessary for salvation (Acts 15:1-2). The NRSV would also come against both Titus 1:9 where we are to use sound doctrine to CONVINCE THE GAINSAYERS and 2Tim. 3:16 where ALL SCRIPTURE is profitable for REPROOF and for CORRECTION. Romans 16:24 KJ: "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [be] with you all. Amen." NRSV: Omitted COMMENT: The vast majority of manuscripts have this verse. 1Cor. 1:18 KJ: "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which ARE SAVED it is the power of God." NRSV: "For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are BEING SAVED it is the power of God." COMMENT: 'Being saved'? The NRSV is teaching AGAIN that salvation is a PROCESS. NOT TRUE. It is an IMMEDIATE EVENT. 1Cor. 1:21 KJ: "... it pleased God BY THE FOOLISHNESS OF PREACHING to save them that believe." NRSV: "... God decided, through the foolishness of our proclamation, to save those who believe." COMMENT: Contrary to what the NRSV says, THE PROCLAMATION OF THE GOSPEL IS NOT FOOLISHNESS. 1Cor. 5:4 KJ: "In the name of our Lord Jesus CHRIST, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus CHRIST," NRSV: "in the name of the Lord Jesus ... When you are assembled, and my spirit is present with the power of our Lord Jesus," COMMENT: IN BOTH CASES THE NAME "CHRIST" is omitted with no reason given. Why do the translators dislike the name "CHRIST" so much? Are the translators of these 'new versions' really saved? 1Cor. 5:7 KJ: "... For even Christ our passover is sacrificed FOR US:" NRSV: "... For our pascal lamb, Christ, has been sacrificed." COMMENT: If Christ is not sacrificed FOR US we cannot be saved! Those last two words are CRITICAL. 1Cor. 6:9-10 KJ: "... Be not deceived: neither fornicators, ... NOR EFFEMINATE, ... shall inherit the kingdom of God." NRSV: "nor effeminate" is omitted in the NRSV. 1Cor. 6:20 KJ: "For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, AND IN YOUR SPIRIT, WHICH ARE GOD'S." NRSV: "For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body." COMMENT: A large section of scripture has been omitted with no reason given. 1Cor. 9:1 KJ: "... have I not seen Jesus CHRIST our Lord? ..." NRSV: "... Have I not seen Jesus our Lord? ..." COMMENT: Again, no reason given for omitting the name "CHRIST". 1Cor. 9:27 KJ: "But I keep ... my body, ... into subjection: lest ... I myself should be a CASTAWAY." NRSV: "but I punish my body ... so that ... I myself should not be disqualified." COMMENT: Being a "CASTAWAY" and being 'disqualified' are VERY DIFFERENT. Think about it. 1Cor. 11:24 KJ: "And when he had given thanks, he brake [it], and said, TAKE, EAT: this is my body, which IS BROKEN for you: ..." NRSV: "and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, 'This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.'" COMMENT: The NRSV misses a HUGE point: Christ's body WAS BROKEN for us. Also, what are we to do with the bread/wafer? Only the King James tells us to: TAKE, and EAT ...". 1Cor. 12:13 KJ: "For BY one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, ..." NRSV: "For in the one Spirit we were all baptized into one body- ..." COMMENT: "BY" and 'in' have totally different meanings. 1Cor. 15:1 KJ: "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the GOSPEL ..." NRSV: "Now I would remind you, brothers and sisters, of the good news ..." COMMENT: If you get a raise at work that is 'good news'! But, that is NOT the "GOSPEL". The King James says to DECLARE THE GOSPEL. 1Cor. 15:2 KJ: "By which also ye ARE SAVED, ..." NRSV: "through which also you are BEING SAVED, ..." COMMENT: Salvation is IMMEDIATE. It is NOT A PROCESS. 1Cor. 15:45 KJ: "... The first man Adam was made a living SOUL; ..." NRSV: "... The first man, Adam, became a living being; ..." COMMENT: A MAJOR difference between man and beast is that man is the ONLY creature with a "SOUL". 1Cor. 16:23 KJ: "The grace of our Lord Jesus CHRIST [be] with you." NRSV: "The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you." COMMENT: Why do they keep insisting on eliminating "Christ"? Grace (that can be CONSTANTLY DEPENDED ON) doesn't come from everyone named 'Jesus', but only from the ONE AND ONLY: JESUS CHRIST. 2Cor. 2:15 KJ: "For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them THAT ARE SAVED, ..." NRSV: "For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are BEING SAVED ..." COMMENT: What? Again? The NRSV is teaching salvation is a PROCESS. Wrong! It is an IMMEDIATE event. 2Cor. 2:17 KJ: "For we are not as many, which CORRUPT the word of God: ..." NRSV: "For we are not peddlers of God's word ..." COMMENT: Peddling and CORRUPTING are VERY DIFFERENT. 'New' versions try and hide from the truth they are CORRUPTING the word of God. 2Cor. 5:17 KJ: "... behold, all things ARE BECOME new." NRSV: "... everything has become new!" COMMENT: Note: The NRSV CHANGES THE VERB TENSE to past tense. This is incorrect as the Christian walk is a DAILY (present tense) walk where all things ARE BECOME new. New situations happen for the Christian DAILY. This NRSV error is not the only place where the verb tense has been changed. 2Cor. 10:4 KJ: "(For the weapons of our warfare [are] not carnal, BUT MIGHTY THROUGH GOD to the pulling down of strong holds;)" NRSV: "for the weapons of our warfare are not merely human, but they have divine power to destroy strongholds. ..." 2Cor. 10:5 KJ: "... Casting down IMAGINATIONS, and every high thing ..." 2Cor. 10:4-5 NRSV: "... We destroy arguments and every proud obstacle ..." COMMENT: It's IMAGINATIONS that can sometimes BAIT US into sin. 2Cor. 11:31 KJ: "The God and Father of our Lord Jesus CHRIST, ..." NRSV: "The God and Father of the Lord Jesus ..." COMMENT: We ask in all sincerity, "Are the translators anxious to get rid of the name 'Christ' altogether?" Gal. 2:19-20 KJ: "I AM crucified with Christ: ..." NRSV: "... I have been crucified with Christ;" COMMENT: The NRSV is saying their crucifixion is over! Not true. The believer's crucifixion is an ongoing, PRESENT TENSE, transaction. Gal. 5:12 KJ: "I would they were even cut off which trouble you." NRSV: "I wish those who unsettle you would CASTRATE themselves!" COMMENT: WHAT? The NRSV says the Apostle Paul wanted some people to be CASTRATED? What kind of PERVERSION is the NRSV teaching? Gal. 6:17 KJ: "... for I bear IN MY BODY the marks of the LORD JESUS." NRSV: "... I carry the marks of Jesus BRANDED ON MY BODY." COMMENT: The marks of the Lord Jesus are INSIDE our body, not outside. We're not talking CATTLE BRANDING here. Eph. 3:14 KJ: "For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST," NRSV: "For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, ..." COMMENT: Which Father is the NRSV talking about? Satan is a father (the "father of lies"). Only the KJ says which Father it is: It is the Father OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. Eph. 5:1 KJ: "Be ye therefore FOLLOWERS of God, ..." NRSV: "Therefore be imitators of God, ..." Comment: The NRSV documents Satan's position EXACTLY. Only Satan tries to imitate God as Satan wants to be worshipped AS God. Isa. 14:14 quotes Satan as saying: "... I will BE LIKE the most high.". Born again believers cannot imitate God. We can't run the universe! We can only FOLLOW God. Remember, Jesus DID NOT tell his "fishers of men" to imitate him. Jesus said: "follow me ...". Eph. 5:9 KJ: "(For the FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT [is] in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)" NRSV: "for the fruit of the light is found in all that is good and right and true." COMMENT: WHO/WHAT is this 'light' that the NRSV is referring to? Satan can be transformed into an angel of LIGHT (2Co. 11:14). Also, "SPIRIT" and 'light' are NOT the same. Philip. 2:6 KJ: "Who, being in the form of God, thought it NOT ROBBERY to be equal with God:" NRSV: "who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited," Philip. 3:8 KJ: "... DUNG, ..." NRSV: "... rubbish, ..." COMMENT: I may have rubbish on the top of my office desk, but I don't want "DUNG" there!!! Philip. 3:21 KJ: "Who shall change our VILE BODY, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, ..." NRSV: "He will transform the body of our humiliation that it may be conformed to the body of his glory, ..." COMMENT: 'Body of our humiliation'? What? The problem is that our bodies are VILE. Our heart is desperately WICKED (Jer. 17:9). Our flesh is sinful (Romans 8:3). There is no good thing that dwells in our flesh (Romans 7:18) etc. Col. 1:14 KJ: "In whom we have redemption THROUGH HIS BLOOD, [even] the forgiveness of sins:" NRSV: "in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." COMMENT: NRSV omits "through his blood". Why omit the blood? This omission can be traced, as usual, to the manuscripts classed as "Neutral Texts" by Westcott and Hort. These are in agreement with the Vatican and Sinaitic manuscripts two of the WORST manuscripts. Remember: Without the shedding of blood there is NO REMISSION (Heb. 9:22). Col. 1:16 KJ: "For BY HIM were all things created, ..." NRSV: "for in him all things in heaven and on earth were created, ..." COMMENT: "BY" and 'in' are NOT the same. Col. 2:2 KJ: "... to the acknowledgement of the mystery OF GOD, AND OF THE FATHER, AND OF CHRIST;" NRSV: "... have the knowledge of God's mystery, that is, Christ himself," COMMENT: God the FATHER is omitted. Col. 2:9 KJ: "For in him dwelleth all the fulness OF THE GODHEAD bodily." NRSV: "For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily," COMMENT: Anyone (including Satan) can claim to be 'deity', but there is only ONE GODHEAD. Col. 2:11 KJ: "... in putting off the body of THE SINS of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:" NRSV: "... by putting off the body of the flesh in the circumcision of Christ;" Col. 3:2 KJ: "Set your AFFECTION on things above, ..." NRSV: "Set your mind on things that are above, ..." 1Thes. 2:19 KJ: "... in the presence of our Lord Jesus CHRIST at his coming?" NRSV: "... before our Lord Jesus at his coming? ..." 1Thes. 3:11 KJ: "Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus CHRIST, direct our way unto you." NRSV: "Now may our God and Father himself and our Lord Jesus direct our way to you." 1Thes. 5:22 KJ: "Abstain from ALL APPEARANCE of evil." NRSV: "abstain from every form of evil." COMMENT: We SHOULD avoid every FORM of evil. But, MORE THAN THAT, we are to abstain from ALL APPEARANCE of evil. 1Tim. 1:1 KJ: "... and LORD Jesus Christ, [which is] our hope;" NRSV: "... and of Christ Jesus our hope," 1Tim. 1:17 KJ: "... the only WISE God, [be] honour and glory ..." NRSV: "... the only God, be honor and glory ..." 1Tim. 3:16 KJ: "... GOD WAS MANIFEST IN THE FLESH, ..." NRSV: "... He was revealed in flesh, ..." COMMENT: Yours truly is a 'he' and I am revealed in the flesh everyday. But, I am not God! The NRSV misses a HUGE point: It was GOD that was manifest in the flesh. 1Tim. 5:21 KJ: "I charge [thee] before God, and the LORD Jesus Christ, ..." NRSV: "In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus ... I warn you to keep these instructions ..." 1Tim. 6:1 KJ: "... that the name of God and [HIS] DOCTRINE be not blasphemed." NRSV: "... that the name of God and the teaching may not be blasphemed." COMMENT: I can 'teach' 2+2=4 but that is NOT GOD's DOCTRINE. The NRSV ruins this important verse. 1Tim. 6:5 KJ: "... men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that GAIN IS GODLINESS: FROM SUCH WITHDRAW THYSELF." NRSV: "... among those who are depraved in mind and bereft of the truth, imagining that GODLINESS IS a means of GAIN." COMMENT: In the NRSV, the phrase: "FROM SUCH WITHDRAW THYSELF" is omitted. Also, the King James warns against men who think GAIN IS GODLINESS. The NRSV wants against those who think GODLINESS IS GAIN. The NRSV is EXACTLY BACKWARDS. 1Tim. 6:10 KJ: "For the love of money is THE root of all evil: ..." NRSV: "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, ..." COMMENT: There is a big difference between the NRSV's 'a' root and the correct KJ reading of "THE" root. 1Tim. 6:20 KJ: "... oppositions of SCIENCE falsely so called:" NRSV: "... contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge;" COMMENT: It's NOT 'knowledge' that sometimes attacks the gospel, it's "SCIENCE" falsely so called. For example: The theory of evolution, which, BTW, has been proven wrong at some good creationist web sites, like: http://www.drdino.com http://www.answersingenesis.org http://www.icr.org 2Tim 1:7 KJ: "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a SOUND MIND." NRSV: "for God did not give us a spirit of cowardice, but rather a spirit of power and of love and of self-discipline." COMMENT: God has given us a SOUND MIND (KJ). But, it is GONE in the NRSV. 2Tim. 2:15 KJ: "STUDY to shew thyself approved unto God, ..." NRSV: "Do your best to present yourself to God ..." COMMENT: We are supposed to STUDY the word of God. 2Tim. 2:25 KJ: "... instructing those that OPPOSE THEMSELVES; ..." NRSV: "... correcting OPPONENTS with gentleness, ..." COMMENT: The NRSV is exactly backwards. 2Tim. 3:3 KJ: "... despisers of THOSE THAT ARE GOOD," NRSV: "... haters of good," COMMENT: Quite a difference in the meaning of the two phrases. 2Tim. 4:1 KJ: "I charge [thee] therefore before God, AND THE LORD Jesus Christ, ..." NRSV: "In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, ... I solemnly urge you:" Titus 1:4 KJ: "... from God the Father and THE LORD Jesus Christ our Saviour." NRSV: "... from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior." Titus 3:10 KJ: "A man that is an HERETICK after the first and second admonition reject;" NRSV: "After a first and second admonition, have nothing more to do with anyone who causes divisions," COMMENT: WHAT? JESUS CHRIST was divisive!!! The King James is correct: The one that holds to false doctrine (the HERETICK) is the one to be rejected, NOT the one exposing the false doctrine. Philemon 6 KJ: "... which is in you IN CHRIST JESUS." NRSV: "... all the good that WE MAY DO for Christ." COMMENT: The King James gives glory to CHRIST JESUS; the NRSV emphasizes MAN. Heb. 1:3 KJ: (Jesus) "Who BEING THE BRIGHTNESS OF [his] glory, and the express image of his person, ... when he had BY HIMSELF PURGED OUR SINS, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;" NRSV: "He is the reflection of God's glory and the exact imprint of God's very being, ... When he had made purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high," COMMENT: "BEING THE BRIGHTNESS OF" and reflecting it are two vastly different situations. Also, Jesus Christ did it ALONE and FOR US! Heb. 2:16 KJ: "For verily he took not on [him the nature of] angels; but he took on [him] the seed of Abraham." NRSV: "For it is clear that he did not come to help angels, but the descendants of Abraham." COMMENT: The NRSV is not even close. Heb. 3:1 KJ: "Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of THE heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our PROFESSION, CHRIST JESUS;" NRSV: "Therefore, brothers and sisters, holy partners in a heavenly calling, consider that Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession," COMMENT: CHRIST is left out and THE heavenly calling is changed to 'a' heavenly calling. Also, don't the translators know the difference between a PROFESSION and a confession? Heb. 3:16 KJ: "FOR SOME, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit NOT ALL that came out of Egypt by Moses." NRSV: "Now who were they who heard and yet were rebellious? Was it not ALL those who left Egypt under the leadership of Moses?" COMMENT: The NRSV is exactly backwards (again). Heb. 4:8 KJ: "For if JESUS had given them REST, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day." NRSV: "For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not speak later about another day." COMMENT: Our "REST" is in the LORD JESUS, NOT in Joshua! Heb. 7:21 KJ: "... Thou [art] a priest for ever AFTER THE ORDER OF MELCHISEDEC:)" NRSV: "... You are a priest forever-" COMMENT: What kind of priest? We don't know from the NRSV because it left out: "after the order of Melchisedec". Heb. 10:30 KJ: "For we know him that hath said, Vengeance [belongeth] unto me, I will recompense, SAITH THE LORD. ..." NRSV: "For we know the one who said, 'Vengeance is mine, I will repay.' ..." COMMENT: 'Knowing the one who said ...' is vague and could be ANYBODY. This verse is supposed to be about GOD, as stated in the King James. Heb. 11:6 KJ: "... he is a rewarder of them that DILIGENTLY seek him." NRSV: "... he rewards those who seek him." COMMENT: We must DILIGENTLY seek him. Heb. 12:2 KJ: "Looking unto Jesus the AUTHOR and finisher of [our] faith; ..." NRSV: "looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, ..." COMMENT: A pioneer would be someone dealing with a faith which was already in existence. But, the Lord Jesus is MORE than that. He is the originator, the AUTHOR of our faith. James 5:16 KJ: "Confess [your] FAULTS one to another, ..." NRSV: "Therefore confess your sins to one another, ..." COMMENT: The Bible says that ONLY GOD can forgive sins. Therefore, we are supposed to confess our SINS to him. We should, however, confess our FAULTS to one another. Note: This doctrinal error in the NRSV is ALSO in Catholic doctrine and practices. 1Peter 1:22 KJ: "Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth THROUGH THE SPIRIT ..." NRSV: "Now that you have purified your souls by your obedience to the truth ..." COMMENT: What happened to God's HOLY SPIRIT? The King James gives GOD'S HOLY SPIRIT the glory. The NRSV credits man. 1Peter 2:2 KJ: "... desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may GROW THEREBY:" NRSV: "... long for the pure, spiritual milk, SO THAT BY IT YOU MAY GROW INTO SALVATION-" COMMENT: WHAT? Read this very carefully. You see, a person must be living in order to grow, and a person who is Spiritually alive already has salvation. Lastly, one does NOT grow into salvation; that is salvation BY WORKS. 1Peter 3:15 KJ: "But sanctify the Lord GOD in your hearts: ..." NRSV: "but in your hearts sanctify Christ as Lord. ..." COMMENT: Is this ANOTHER attempt to do away with the DEITY of our Lord? 1Peter 4:1 KJ: "Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered FOR US in the flesh, ..." NRSV: "Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, ..." COMMENT: Christ suffered FOR US. Kind of important, don't you think? 1Peter 4:14 KJ: "If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy [are ye]; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: ON THEIR PART HE IS EVIL SPOKEN OF, BUT ON YOUR PART HE IS GLORIFIED." NRSV: "If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the spirit of glory, which is the Spirit of God, is resting on you." COMMENT: The NRSV leaves out the GLORY God deserves. 2Peter 2:1 KJ: "... there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in DAMNABLE HERESIES, ..." NRSV: "... there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive opinions. ..." COMMENT: The first problem is that they are "HERESIES" not 'opinions'. The second problem is that the HERESIES are DAMNABLE. 1John 1:7 KJ: "... and the blood of Jesus CHRIST his Son cleanseth us from all sin." NRSV: "... and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin." COMMENT: The blood of just anyone named 'Jesus' does NOT cleanse us from sin. Only the blood of the ONE and ONLY JESUS CHRIST can cleanse us from our sin. 1John 2:20 KJ: "But ye have an unction from the Holy One, AND YE KNOW ALL THINGS." NRSV: "But you have been anointed by the Holy One, and all of you have knowledge." COMMENT: Are "UNCTION" and 'anointing' the same? 1John 3:16 KJ: "Hereby perceive we the LOVE [OF GOD], ..." NRSV: "We know love by this, ..." COMMENT: God is left out! What happened to GIVING GOD THE GLORY for his love? 1John 4:3 KJ: "And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: ..." NRSV: "and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. ..." COMMENT: Not true NRSV! Remember, EVIL SPIRITS DID CONFESS/ACKNOWLEDGE JESUS. In Luke 4:34 (and in Mark 1:24) a man having a "spirit of an unclean devil" said to Jesus: "... Let [us] alone; what have we to do with thee, [THOU] JESUS OF NAZARETH? art thou come to destroy us? I KNOW THEE who thou art; THE HOLY ONE OF GOD." 'New versions', like the NRSV, corrupt the test for the anti-christ/test for evil spirits. What evil spirits CAN NOT SAY is that: "Jesus Christ is come in the flesh". 1John 4:19 KJ: "We love HIM, because he first loved us." NRSV: "We love because he first loved us." COMMENT: The NRSV missed the topic, totally. "We love HIM, because he first loved us." 1John 5:6-7 KJ: "This is he that came by water and blood, [even] Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. 7 For there are three that BEAR RECORD IN HEAVEN, THE FATHER, THE WORD, AND THE HOLY GHOST: AND THESE THREE ARE ONE." NRSV: "This is the one who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ, not with the water only but with the water and the blood. And the Spirit is the one that testifies, for the Spirit is the truth. There are three that testify:" COMMENT: The majority of verse 7 is omitted. 1John 5:8 KJ: "AND THERE ARE THREE THAT BEAR WITNESS IN EARTH, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree IN ONE." NRSV: "the Spirit and the water and the blood, and these three agree." 1John 5:13 KJ: "... that ye may know that ye have eternal life, AND THAT YE MAY BELIEVE ON THE NAME OF THE SON OF GOD." NRSV: "... so that you may know that you have eternal life." COMMENT: No reason is given for this phrase being omitted. 2John 1:3 KJ: "Grace be with you, mercy, [and] peace, from God the Father, and from THE LORD Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love." NRSV: "Grace, mercy, and peace will be with us from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Father's Son, in truth and love." Rev. 1:9 KJ: "... and FOR the testimony of Jesus CHRIST." NRSV: "... and the testimony of Jesus." Rev. 1:11 KJ: "Saying, I AM ALPHA AND OMEGA, THE FIRST AND THE LAST: and, What thou seest, write in a book, ..." NRSV: "saying, 'Write in a book what you see ...'" COMMENT: Jesus as the ALPHA AND OMEGA, THE FIRST AND THE LAST is omitted. Rev. 5:14 KJ: "... And the four [and] twenty elders fell down and worshipped HIM THAT LIVETH FOR EVER AND EVER." NRSV: "... And the elders fell down and worshiped." COMMENT: Worshipped WHO? John? Sam? Sally? The devil? Who? The NRSV doesn't say. But, in the King James it is CLEAR: We worship him that "LIVETH FOR EVER AND EVER"! Rev. 6:17 KJ: "For the great day of HIS wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?" NRSV: "for the great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?" COMMENT: There is quite a difference between 'their' wrath and "HIS" wrath! Rev. 8:13 KJ: "... and heard AN ANGEL flying ... saying with a loud VOICE, ..." NRSV: "... and I heard an eagle crying with a loud VOICE ..." COMMENT: How can the translators mis-translate ANGEL as eagle? Also, whoever heard of eagles TALKING? Rev. 13:16 KJ: "And HE causeth all, ... to receive a mark IN their right hand, or IN their foreheads:" NRSV: "Also it causes all, ... to be marked ON the right hand or the forehead," COMMENT: First off it is a HE that does this NOT an 'it'. Secondly, the "mark of the beast" will be IN the right hand or IN the forehead (as in the possibility of a microchip, or something IN the skin that CANNOT be washed off etc.). Note: Something ON the right hand or ON the forehead could be more easily REMOVED. Rev. 15:3 KJ: "... thou King OF SAINTS." NRSV: "... King of the nations!" COMMENT: There is a difference. Think about it. Rev. 16:7 KJ: "And I heard ANOTHER OUT OF THE ALTAR SAY, ..." NRSV: "And I heard the altar respond, ..." COMMENT: Whoever heard of an altar TALKING? Rev. 19:8 KJ: "And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and WHITE: for the fine linen is the RIGHTEOUSNESS of saints." NRSV: "to her it has been granted to be clothed with fine linen, bright and pure- for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints." COMMENT: The linen of the saints is WHITE because WHITE symbolizes PURITY. 'Bright' could be ANY COLOR. Also, fine linen is the RIGHTEOUSNESS of saints (which GOD GAVE TO US and HE GETS THE GLORY for it). The fine linen IS NOT the righteous 'deeds' of the saints (which would give credit to man). Rev. 20:9 KJ: "... and fire came down FROM GOD out of heaven, ..." NRSV: "... And fire came down from heaven ..." COMMENT: The point is: It was GOD that judged. Rev. 21:24 KJ: "And the nations of them WHICH ARE SAVED shall walk in the light of it: ..." NRSV: "The nations will walk by its light, ..." COMMENT: There is a BIG difference between 'nations' and "NATIONS ... WHICH ARE SAVED". Rev 22:14 KJ: "Blessed [are] they that DO HIS COMMANDMENTS, ..." NRSV: "Blessed are those who wash their robes, ..." COMMENT: What? 'Wash their robes'? Are those two verses the same? Brothers and sisters: If you want TO BE BLESSED, then BE SURE TO DO HIS (Jesus') COMMANDMENTS! Amen? AMEN!
